Teak cabinet with open compartment, 1960s

This cabinet divides the space into two distinct parts: an entirely open compartment above, and a closed element with a door below. A simple configuration that allows you to alternate between what you want to display and everything that, quite simply, is better hidden.

The upper compartment can hold books, ceramics, or small objects, almost transforming the cabinet into a small bookcase. The lower part, on the other hand, maintains a compact front, interrupted only by the horizontal handle integrated into the upper edge of the door.

Teak complements this division with different grains and tones between the structure, interior, and front panel. The vertical development is one of the most interesting aspects of the piece: it offers good storage capacity while occupying a reduced floor space compared to classic low sideboards from 1960s modernism.

Precisely for this reason, it doesn't necessarily need a "cabinet" placement: it can work in an entryway, next to an armchair, in the bedroom, or as a small storage unit in the living room. A simple mid-century Scandinavian design piece that can be reinterpreted according to the space and what it needs to contain.
