Key Details
The PH 5 is one of Poul Henningsen's most famous designs for Louis Poulsen. Introduced in 1958, it originated from the Danish architect's research into light diffusion and the possibility of achieving comfortable lighting through a system of superimposed shades.
Its distinctive multi-element construction directs light downwards and distributes it throughout the space in a controlled manner. The result is a lamp that works particularly well above a dining table, but can also find its place in a living area or a workspace.
With its 50 cm diameter, the PH 5 maintains a significant visual presence without being cumbersome. Over time, its shape has become a true icon of Danish design, recognizable also for the relationship between structure, proportion, and luminous function.
A classic of Scandinavian lighting from the second half of the twentieth century, capable of naturally fitting into both Mid-Century interiors and contemporary environments.
