Key Details
The RAR Rocking Chair designed by Charles Eames and Ray Eames is probably one of those designs that many people instantly recognize even without knowing its name. The reason is simple: few seating designs have managed to combine comfort, formal simplicity, and such a recognizable presence so well.
The structure combines a polypropylene seat, a steel base, and wooden runners, creating that balance between industrial materials and warmer surfaces that made Eames' designs so iconic. In this version, the light blue seat adds a fresher and more playful component, while retaining all the essential elegance of the original design.
Even though it is called a rocking chair, the RAR occupies space very differently from more traditional models. Its compact proportions, open structure, and visual lightness allow it to fit easily into a living room, bedroom, or study, adding character without overwhelming the environment.
More than seventy years after its design, it continues to work for the same reason it worked then: it is simple, comfortable, and extremely well-designed.
