Key Details
The tabletop is the true star of this coffee table, designed by Jens Quistgaard and produced in Denmark by Nissen Langå in the 1950s. Inside the teak frame, slender bamboo elements are arranged in a radial pattern that converges toward the center, constantly changing in appearance depending on the viewing angle.
The square shape with strongly rounded corners echoes a recurring language in Quistgaard’s work, where construction and material quality become part of the design. The raised edge precisely defines the tabletop and retains the reference to the serving tray typology from which the project originated.
The four thin, tapered legs lift the top 50 cm off the floor, making it suitable for use as a coffee table or side table next to an armchair. The compact dimensions allow it to be easily placed even in small spaces, while the inlay gives it a visual presence far greater than its proportions suggest.
A piece of mid-century Danish design where decorative craftsmanship is not an addition, but an integral part of the construction. Teak and bamboo create a warm, graphic contrast that continues to work very well even in contemporary interiors.
