Key Details
Fredericia is a small 1960s Danish sideboard that stands out for its raised structure and compact dimensions, making it particularly appealing even for smaller rooms. The rectangular body, enclosed by two doors, rests on a tall, slender base that leaves a significant portion of space open beneath the piece.
The front features two light-wood doors, characterized by vertical grain and a pair of elongated handles integrated along the meeting point of the doors. The contrast between the front surfaces and the warmer tones of the sides adds visual interest to the sideboard. The base is formed by thin, slightly tapered legs, connected by horizontal crossbars that define its structure.
The height of the base is one of the piece's most distinctive features. By lifting the storage unit off the floor, it lightens its presence and highlights the wooden construction. This was a frequent solution in mid-century Scandinavian design, where even pieces intended for storage were designed with special attention to the balance between solid and void.
With a width of 122 cm and a depth of only 42 cm, this sideboard can be placed in a living room, a dining area, or along an entryway wall. The top surface offers space for lamps, books, and decorative objects, while the enclosed compartment allows you to organize whatever you prefer to keep out of sight. A piece of Danish mid-century modern design that retains remarkable versatility for contemporary interiors.
