Key Details
The KD28 was created at a time when Joe Colombo was experimenting with new possibilities offered by plastic materials, seeking forms that were at once simple, functional, and easily reproducible. The result is a lamp constructed almost entirely from two geometric volumes: a luminous sphere suspended within an open cylindrical structure.
The light is not directed towards a single point, but diffuses uniformly through the opaline diffuser, creating a soft illumination that makes the KD28 suitable for a bookcase, a bedside table, or a low table. The structure also allows the light source to be seen from various angles, transforming the lamp into a small architectural element.
The contrast between the white diffuser and the blue base emphasizes the graphic character of the design, which still maintains a surprisingly contemporary language. It is one of those objects that can interact with contemporary interiors without losing its strong connection to the most experimental period of Italian design in the 1960s.
