Key Details
This 1970s Italian lounge chair works almost entirely on volumes. The wide, rounded base continues into the curved backrest, while the cylindrical support traverses the seat, creating an unusual profile that is particularly interesting even when viewed from the side.
It is a low, deep armchair designed for relaxed seating. The padding completely wraps around the frame and reaches the floor, visually eliminating any distinction between the legs, base, and seat. The result is a compact, soft shape that is decidedly representative of the experimentation that characterizes much of 1970s Italian design.
The upholstery is still the original: the brown velvet surface changes significantly depending on the direction of the pile and the light, highlighting the curves and the various planes of the armchair.
Closer to a sculptural object than a traditional mid-century armchair, it works well left freestanding in a space, where its profile can also be appreciated. A piece of Italian modernism with a strong presence, suitable for both contemporary interiors and settings constructed with furnishings from different eras.
