Seen from any angle, this armchair maintains a remarkable visual lightness. The teak frame allows the space to breathe, while the blue upholstery introduces a deeper note that highlights the design of the structure.
Illum Wikkelsø belongs to that generation of Danish designers who knew how to make comfort an integral part of the design without sacrificing the elegance of form. In this armchair, the structure always remains the protagonist: the armrests follow the profile with a soft and continuous curve, while the open frame lightens the whole and enhances the woodworking.
The seat and backrest are generous, but never bulky. The proportions are designed to offer a relaxed and natural position, a quality that has made Danish lounge chairs from the 1960s so popular even today.
Next to a bookcase, in a reading area or as the main seating in the living room, this armchair manages to characterize the space with discretion. It is one of those designs that don't need flashy details to be noticed: the proportions, the construction quality and the relationship between materials are enough to understand its value.
