Key Details
This teak chair by Arne Hovmand-Olsen is from the 1960s Danish production, a period during which the designer focused closely on the relationship between structure, comfort, and the quality of the wood. The design maintains a light presence, making it suitable for placement around a dining table without dominating the space.
Teak is the primary element of the chair, with its natural variations in color and grain becoming an integral part of the piece's appearance. The construction favors comfortable daily use, while the design of the backrest supports the seat without adding bulk to the frame.
It is a versatile chair, suitable for completing a teak table from the same period or for use as a standalone piece in an entryway, bedroom, or study area. Its recognizable character also allows it to be placed in a contemporary setting, creating a subtle reference to Scandinavian design.
A piece that effectively illustrates Hovmand-Olsen's approach to Mid-Century Danish furniture: the wood remains the protagonist and the form arises from the practical requirements of use.
