Set of 6 Model 71 chairs by Henning Kjærnulf for Boltinge Stolefabrik, 1960s
The Model 71 designed by Henning Kjærnulf have a very different presence compared to many Danish chairs from the same period. The entirely wooden backrest highlights the structural work more strongly, emphasizing the design of the lines and the way the teak is shaped through soft joints and very precise proportions.
The upholstered seat, on the other hand, introduces a warmer and more tactile component. The cognac-colored suede fabric creates a natural contrast with the teak, adding depth without weighing down the structure. The combination of wood and upholstery gives the chairs a cozy and domestic character.
When viewed together around a table, the Model 71 maintain strong visual coherence while avoiding rigidity or excessive formality. The compact proportions and the lightness of the backrest allow the set to easily fit into even more essential contemporary environments.
An original vintage set that retains all the artisanal quality and design sensibility of the best Scandinavian design of the second half of the twentieth century.
