Designed by Arne Vodder for Cado in the 1960s, this Danish teak and leather stool represents an interesting take on occasional seating. The wooden frame supports a wide upholstered surface, creating a piece with compact dimensions but a well-defined presence.
The seat, slightly rounded at the corners, is upholstered in brown leather, which shows creases, color variations, and signs of use consistent with its history. The upholstery is divided by seams that add texture to the surface, while the padding gives the top a soft and slightly domed profile. The teak legs, straight and tapered towards the bottom, are connected by stretchers that contribute to the stability of the structure.
Arne Vodder was one of the protagonists of post-war Danish design, known for his wooden furniture and his attention to proportions and construction details. In this stool, the contrast between the geometric teak frame and the worn surface of the leather highlights two materials that age in different ways, acquiring their own unique characteristics over time.
