Scandinavian rosewood sideboard, 1960s
Rosewood completely changes how this sideboard is perceived in a space. Unlike Scandinavian teak furniture, here the surface has a more intense presence, built through dark tones, glossy reflections, and very pronounced grain that runs almost continuously across the piece.
In the drawers, the wood grain gradually opens up to lighter shades, creating a very natural contrast. The polishing further accentuates this depth, making the furniture react to light in ever-changing ways.
The structure also contributes to this balance: the volume remains low and horizontal, almost suspended, preventing the furniture from becoming too dominant despite the visual strength of the wood. It is a sideboard that works very well alongside neutral materials, light walls, or essential contemporary interiors, where rosewood immediately becomes a focal point without the need for additional decorative elements.
