Teak sideboard, 1960s
This sideboard is quite long, almost forming a continuous line within the space.
The arrangement of its elements clearly tells its function: on one side, four drawers; on the other, a more enclosed unit; while in the center, the doors create a larger, more flexible volume. This alternation between solids and voids is not only practical but also helps to make the front less rigid, almost structured into visual blocks.
Teak acts as a unifying element. The surfaces remain continuous, with grain patterns that run across the entire structure, helping to perceive the piece as a single body despite its internal division. It is precisely this balance between order and variety that makes it easily adaptable to different settings, from the living room to the dining room.
It is a sideboard with a simple structure and ample storage capacity. And it is probably this structural sobriety that makes it still very relevant today.
