Key Details
A coffee table that combines multiple functions into a single piece of furniture. Designed by Johannes Andersen for Trioh in the 1960s, this teak model embodies one of the most interesting aspects of Danish design: the ability to find practical solutions through meticulous construction and an intelligent use of space.
The main top, long and narrow, features slightly rounded corners and reveals the warm grain of the teak. The frame is supported by tapered legs, connected by crossbars that contribute to the stability of the piece. The uniqueness of the design lies in its additional elements: a pull-out side table, which can be used as an independent surface, and a small tray integrated at one end of the top. A versatile configuration, designed to adapt to the various needs of everyday life.
Johannes Andersen was one of the leading figures of post-war Danish design, best known for his tables and home accessories. In his projects, woodworking often takes center stage, with particular attention to joints, edges, and the shapes of the tops. This side table also reflects that design sensibility, expressed through subtle details and functional solutions.
Thanks to its configuration, it can be used as a coffee table, next to a sofa, or in a dedicated reading space. The pull-out table allows for an extra surface when needed, while keeping the footprint compact when not in use. A piece of Danish modernism that remains remarkably relevant for everyday use.
